Alpine Adventure

What a view from this window where I am sitting! it seems one could reach right out and touch the towering Alps. Actually we are IN the Alps on an amazing excursion. To be truthful, Angela and Jeff and their families are doing the amazing part of this excursion while I am having a coffee in a lovely hotel in Wengen, a village high in the Alps. We are not staying at this hotel, but I am enjoying it's coffee, warmth and view while all the others are sledding down the mountain!

Starting early this morning we boarded a train in Interlaken, climbed the steep mountains to Lauterbrunnen then changed trains to go higher to Wengen, Here we rented four sleds and boarded a third train that climbed even more steeply for three or four miles where we stepped off in the village of Wengen Alpen. I enjoyed the spectacular views and the village, then waited for the next train going down to Wengen. For the others, the sledding began that will hopefully bring them back down to this hotel where I am waiting. Having never sledded before, I am not sure my family is ready for this, but we shall see! love, Liz
